Fathers Day

Since my friend was at a loose end this fathers day, we decided that we would take his small boat for a short trip around the lake..
Shortly after this picture was taken he put those oars to good use due to a shortage of gas in the tank. I bet next time he fills it ALL THE WAY UP.

Irish Fest. Update

Tonight was the first night of the Irish Fest. and the weather could not have been better. Everyone was out for an evening of fun, food and music. The bonsai exhibition had a large number of visitors walking through and asking many questions "YES, they are real", "Yes, they do stay out in the winter and loose their leaves", NO !, you can not buy one"

the akron Canton Bonsai Society will have a display in the Arts Center, stop by and see the trees.

Here is another sunrise for, yes, I know it comes up every day but that doesn't mean it looks like this.

A couple of the golfers are going to the Mayakoba Classic this morning. They don't plan on staying all day, just until it starts to get hot out, it's in the upper 70's right now.

We have noticed that every year there seems to be more and more young adults here, arn't these kids supposed to be in school ? Maybe it is all this home schooling, I sure haven't noticed any parents holding classes on the beach between drinks.

Once again the suitcases are out and we have started to try and fit all the extra trinkets in. We always say there is nothing we need, but we always end up with STUFF.

3 More Wake-ups

Well there are only three more wake ups like this then it is back to dreary ol gray Ohio weather. I can almost bet that after a mild winter it will decide to turn nasty after we get home. Our consolation is we already have reservations for next year

Can anyone tell me who all these people are and why they are on MY BEACH? Don't they know it is our last week and we want it all to ourselves.

Friday is our last full day, so we are making our list of the things we need to do, places to eat and people to see.

Carnival

From what we here, carnival is supposed to start tonight but when youtalk to anyone you always get different dates and times, everyone nows seems to agree that it is either Sat or Sun. We walked up to the municipal park the other evening and things are setup so it has to be close. When it happens I will try to get a few pictures to post.

We are down to our last week, the weather still continues to be wonderful in the mid 80's to low 90's with a constant gentle breeze.

Survived Another One

The world has survived another Valentines Day, the florists and card companies will eagerly make their bank deposits today.

Our Valentines get together was a pleasant quite evening with good company and a nice meal. Dinner was a nice lettuce spinach and goat cheese salad topped with fresh beets cut like hearts, the entree was a very delecious slice of lasagna that could have nearly fed two people, then ice cream for dessert with a topping bar that was larger than some salad bars that I have seen. Top all that off with a nice glass of wine and good company and what more could you want.

Now it is another day at the beach and pool. It is a little breezy this morning but that usually abides as it warms up.

Valentines Day

Here is is again, a day for celebrating romance. We will be enjoying the warm breezes and sun, then this evening we will be going with friends to a special dinner that has been arranged for the special ones in our lives. This is our second your of getting together to celebrate together and it looks like it will become an annual event. We have brought the ladies here at the resort some chocolates since they are special to us and take very good care of us.

Enjoy the day, and do something for your special someone.

Another One Bites the Dust

Around noon today they started shifting things and people around on the beach to prepare for a poor souls demise later.

A temporary pavillion was set up loungers and guests were moved and all was made ready.

At 5:00 it started, a semi-traditional Korean wedding. The mothers were in traditional dress and everyone else was modern. In less than 30 minutes the poor guy was done for.

The reception is now going on in a different section of the beach, so we will be hearing music into the night.

No need

After looking at this picture do I need to explain why I enjoy getting up in the morning and setting on the beach before it gets busy ?

Go Figure

I have never been able to understand why people who are in bathing suits at the pool or in the ocean will run for cover when a little shower passes by.

The pictue is the result of a minor drizzle that only lasted a few minutes.

R U Ready 4 This

Believe it or not here is the latest from sunny Mexico.

In honor of her upcoming birthday, we won't say how many but a lot, Sister Mary went , wait for it, PARASAILING. We have it from an eyewitness that she had to be told numerous times to just relax, breathe and enjoy the view and that if she didn't quit holding on so tight she would stop the circulation in her fingers or they would get cramps. All in all we really think that she enjoyed it but doesn't want to admit it. It looks like her friend Marilyn has one of two things in mind, to either do away with Mary or to encourage her to let loose and have a good time, we think it is the later. BUT WHO CARES

Everyone is packing and getting ready ro move later this morning, so by noon we will be in Playa on the beach at the El Faro.

The VS Angels await

STRESS, I think not

Now I ask you, do those two look like they have any stress in there life ? It's a hard life in Mexico, but someone has to live it.

Today is the last day at the Mayan, tomorrow we move into Playa and the El Faro, where all of Emmett's VS Angels are hopefully awaiting. We will also be seeing the rest of our friends who have already arrived or will be showing uqp this week.

Half Over

Well it's half over, the first week that is. The weather has been nice, there was a little bit of rain yesterday afternoon but that passed in about ten minutes. Sister Mary and her friend Marilyn had an adventure yesterday, they went to the dolphin park and spent the morning swimming with the dolphins. Mary mentioned something about flooding the gully beside the house so she could have her own.

Today will be another hard day of loungers and sun beaide the pool. I can't tell you how much I appreciate you folks working so my social security keeps coming to make all this possible.

The. Luna Blue has once again come up with an accurate description for thistime of year. It may have rained overnight, but it is now upper 80's and sunny. It's a hard life but we try and live up to it.

One more week

This time next and we will be on the beach in Playa. After the weather the last couple of weeks, it will be nice to be somewhere where the temperature is constant. We have no real plans for our/visit this year other than to relax. Martha,s sister and a friend of hers are comimg along for the first week so we may have to play tourist guide depending on their plans. I have a few things to deliver for some of our friends and want to try and get that done the first week, we will probably get together for dinner.

Air Tran

Got an email from Air Tran yesterday, it wasn't bad enough that we were scheduled for a 6 hour layover, but now they hadchanged the departure times out of Atl for our return and we will be there for 8 hours. I guess there will be no need to hurry through customs and we should have plenty of time to eat, since we allknow that airline food is to die for.

It won't be long

Less than 4 weeks and we will be off for our annual migration to Playa. As usual our first week will be at the Grand Mayan and then the rest of the month we will be at the El Faro right downtown.

I received an email today from a friend there and was told that once again the beaches are erroding and back to about half of what they were after being repaired. The gov't is still trying to figure out a permenant solution. Who am I to complain, it is always better there than the northern U.S. in Feb.
